University College guides and advises students as they join the UNCW fam- ily, helping them explore undergrad- uate curricula and career paths, pre- pare to declare an appropriate major, and succeed in their transition. The Honors College provides students with a strong learning community focused on achievement. More than 700 gifted and goal-oriented scholars in the Honors College receive benefits and resources to take their education further, faster.

UNCW offers a variety of health


and fitness opportunities, includ- ing the Student Recreation Center, equipped with cardio machines, free weights, and weight machines. It includes six multipurpose sport courts, an indoor track, racquet- ball courts, indoor and leisure pools, group exercise studios, and a climb- ing wall. UNCW also offers intra- murals, sports clubs, multipurpose recreation fields, and adventure pro- grams such as camping, surfing, and kayaking.

UNCW requires all fall freshmen to reside on campus for their first academic year. Research shows that students who live on campus make a smoother transition to collegiate life, achieve higher grade point averages, and graduate at higher rates.


Athletics uncwsports.com UNCW’s 19 intercollegiate teams compete in NCAA Division I sports with Seahawk pride and integrity. UNCW’s student-athletes excel not only on the fields and courts but in the classroom as well, consistent- ly posting strong academic success rates, with nine teams achieving perfect 1,000 scores in the NCAA’s most recent Academic Progress Rates report.


Coastal location Wilmington is a charming and friend- ly city on the southeastern coast of North Carolina. Located just minutes from numerous beaches, it has a re- nowned historic district as well as a vibrant arts culture and literature, film, and music scene. Wilmington International Airport (ILM) provides commercial air service to cities both domestic and abroad and is just six miles from campus. n
