ordham University’s Graduate School of Educa- tion (GSE) offers more than 40 master’s, doc- toral, and certificate programs in Counseling
Psychology, School Psychology, Educational Lead- ership, and Teaching. Located in the heart of New York City, Fordham GSE integrates the city and its diverse residents into the curriculum, research, and fieldwork. GSE is committed to social justice and mul- ticulturalism, working to improve the lives of all peo- ple regardless of race, class, socioeconomic status, religion, or background. GSE believes all people have the right to top-notch educational and psychological services.
Teacher Education These programs includes initial and advanced certifi- cation programs for those seeking to become teachers for the first time and for certified educators looking to expand their expertise. Non-certification programs are available for those seeking other career options in education. Programs include Adolescent, Childhood, Early Childhood, and Special Education as well as Bilingual Education, Curriculum Design, Literacy, and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL).
Educational Leadership Educational Leadership programs are designed for those looking to become school leaders and admin- istrators. The curricula cover historical and contem- porary ideologies, blending theory and practice to
produce confident and nimble leaders who are capa- ble of solving educational problems at both micro and macro levels. Within the Administration and Supervi- sion degrees, students can pursue a General Admin- istration degree or specialize in Urban or Catholic/ Non-Public School Education.
Counseling and School Psychology The Counseling and School Psychology programs are based on the scientist-practitioner model and produce professionals who are able to integrate theories of dif- ferent counseling areas, human development, develop- mental disorders, assessment, program development and evaluation, research methods, and ethics into their work. Programs are available at the master’s level in Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling; at the advanced certificate level in School Psychology and Bilingual School Psychology; and at the doctoral level in Counseling Psychology and School Psychology.
Studying in New York City As one of the most diverse cities in the world, New York gives Fordham GSE students opportunities to work with many different populations in schools, dis- tricts, hospitals, clinics, community organizations, and other settings. Fordham’s Lincoln Center campus is located in the middle of it all.
