Heart, soul, mind, strength Gardner-Webb’s Christian foundation is based on Mark 12:29–31, which says, “The Lord our God is one, and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.” The directive to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength provides direc- tion for the development of people who will go forth into the world as graduates enabled to live out the University’s motto.
